Roger Manktelow - Chair

 

Born Sussex, raised and educated London. BA and CQSW - Sheffield University; MPhil -Cranfield Institute of Technology. Currently retired, former apprentice telephone engineer, radar test engineer, social worker and Guardian ad Litem. Most recently manager of the Hillsborough Community Development Trust and the Hillsborough Walled Garden. My proudest achievements include raising in the region of £40,000 and helping to raise another £45,000, mainly for the Walled Garden; founding the Hillsborough and Owlerton Local History Group; the publication of the ‘Complete Hillsborough by her People’; but mostly securing the long term future of the Walled Garden.

 

Founder member of HONF and currently its chairman, currently involved with the Walled Garden Working Group, Hillsborough Park Regeneration Steering Committee and the Local History Group.

 

In one way or another I have been involved in various forms of community activism for most of my adult life including politics, trade unionism as well as voluntary work.

 

I have lived in Wadsley for 25 years with Janet, my partner of 34 years. My other main interest include politics, history, archaeology and creative writing, having published several short stories and written six, as yet unperformed, plays.

 

 

Andy Chaplin - Treasurer

 

Lived in Hillsborough for 25 years.    Self-employed and semi-retired.  Member of Hillsborough Forum since September 2006.    Member of “Friends of Hillsborough Park” and “Hillsborough Park Regeneration Steering Group” which work to develop the Park, improve facilities and organise events.

 

 Treasurer for Burton Street Foundation and the  Sheffield Domestic Abuse Forum.
