Hillsborough Forum - Hillsborough Tabernacle Church, Proctor Place,  Sheffield,  S6 4HF.

ABOUT US

Hillsborough Forum was formed in 2002 (as Hillsborough & Owlerton Neighbourhood Forum) to enable local residents to play an active part in their community, and to work on the regeneration of the Hillsborough & Owlerton area. Hillsborough Forum became a Limited Company with Charitable aims on 31st January 2006. In December 2007 it began the process of applying for Registered Charity Status.

The Forum currently employs two workers to develop, and deliver the strategy for the area and help local people get involved.  Nick Waterfield has joined us as the new Project Development Officer alongside support worker Wendy Wells.  Both Nick and Wendy live in the local area and are keen to make the changes happen.

Hillsborough as an area is very unique. The relatively small amount of housing in central Hillsborough is largely privately owned or let by private landlords, with the larger estates with a wider mix of owner occupier and social housing such as William Sutton, Wisewood and Winn Gardens bordering the area. To encourage community involvement, Hillsborough Forum have applied and gained grant funding to appoint staff to encourage community participation and economic regeneration in the Hillsborough area.In 2008 the Board of Hillsborough agreed amending the boundaries of the Forum to cover the new Parliamentary ward of Hillsborough.

The Forum is currently funded from: Yorkshire Forward (Single Pot Finance -SOAR), Working Neighbourhoods Fund (Sheffield City Council) and has also attracted small grants from a number of sources. It is independent of all political parties and statutory authorities.

It is crucial to involve as many groups and organisations as possible to raise public awareness and to be able to represent the community at a strategic level. For this reason there will be support given to a voluntary, community and faith sector groups in the area.
