Hillsborough Forum was formed in 2002 (as Hillsborough & Owlerton Neighbourhood Forum) to enable local residents to play an active part in their community, and to work on the regeneration of the Hillsborough & Owlerton area. Hillsborough Forum became a Limited Company with Charitable aims on 31st January 2006. In February 2009 the Forum successfully gained Registered Charity status..
The Forum currently employs two workers to develop, and deliver the strategy for the area and help local people get involved. Nick Waterfield is Senior Project Officer and Wendy Wells MBE is Environment Projects Officer.
Hillsborough
as an area is unique. The relatively small amount of housing in central
Hillsborough is largely privately owned or let by private landlords, with the
larger estates with a wider mix of owner occupier and social housing such as
William Sutton, Wisewood and
The Forum is currently funded from: Central Community Assembly - Sheffield City Council and has also attracted small grants from a number of sources including: The Brelms Trust, Awards for All, Sheffield Town Trust and Sheffield Church Bugresses. It is independent of all political parties and statutory authorities.
It
is crucial to involve as many groups and organisations as possible to raise
public awareness and to be able to represent the community at a strategic
level. For this reason there will be support given to a voluntary,
community and faith sector groups in the area.
