We are still in contact with the Co-op about their plans and developments their, as soon as any news is available for publication we will let local people know. We are pleased that the Co-op have made efforts since May to improve the look of the store and allowed the expansion of the clothing section, we are also grateful for the way they have allowed community groups to use the empty space while a  long term future is being resolved.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Open Forum meeting 23rd April about the Co-Op in Hillsborough.

Eighty seven people signed into the meeting which showed the level of interest locally. The main points can be summarised as follows:

• The Co-op want to keep both its food retail and its Post Office franchise operating in Hillsborough.
• Expressions of interest on the site have been recieved but no sale has been agreed as yet.
• There is a real possibility that even if the site is sold, the Co-op will keep both the food hall and Post Office businesses open, either on that site or elsewhere in Hillsborough.
• The Co-op agreed to keep Hillsborough Forum updated on progress and to attend a future Open Forum meeting to report back.
